As a 23-year-old photographer based in Detroit, my journey with photography began about three years ago. My passion for cameras started at a young age, inspired by my desire to be a YouTuber and my love for gaming videos. This early interest quickly evolved as I discovered the joy of capturing various subjects through my lens.

I often ventured into downtown Detroit to immerse myself in street photography, captivated by the city lights' vibrant colors and the unique glow at night. My first event photoshoot took place at The Compound, an underground venue known for its dynamic rap battles and competitions. Despite the intense atmosphere and the presence of rough city elements, I focused on capturing compelling compositions and the raw energy of both performers and the audience. This experience solidified my passion for photography.

My style developed with a preference for dark, gritty aesthetics, often featuring cooler hues. This distinct approach resonated with my personal brand, known as Darkari, which reflects a melancholic and emo exterior. However, during photoshoots, I engage deeply with my models, striving to understand and capture their essence creatively. This method has led to vibrant, dynamic images that resonate with many.

Starting with minimal equipment—just a backdrop and LED lights—I embraced these limitations to fuel my creativity. Over time, I have built a reputation in Detroit's creative community, collaborating with friends and local artists. Photography is my true passion, and I am dedicated to it regardless of financial gain. My work is a testament to the power of creativity and connection, allowing me to make a name for myself by simply being authentic.
